Recording quality can affect the rate at which the transcription occurs. If there is just one person speaking and the clarity of voice/accent etc are clear, then the time frame should be about 1 hour to every 15 minutes of recorded time.
If there is more than one person speaking and only one microphone used, this can take much longer to transcribe. In some cases this drastically increases the transcription time.
If recording a meeting, you need to make sure that: -
-
everyone introduces themselves at the beginning;
-
only one person speaks at a time
-
microphones are strategically place for optimum quality of recording
Standard cassettes give a much higher quality recording than the other micro or mini ones that are available. Also make sure that you are not using ‘voice-activation’ mode when recording as this cuts short the audio. Also make sure that any technical terms or ‘jargon’ that is used is spelt out.
Please note that we also accept recordings that are made via your PC
